Before we start ...
A truly meant 'Thank you' to the caring staff of Malikha Lodge who made this short time of vacation an experience that lasts forever! |
... some advice when you travel there (click on the thumbnail to see the larger pic) ...
First:
You are right in the middle of 'Nowhere'.
If you should need a doctor, fat chance!
Next big city is roughly a 1-hour-flight away (Myitkyina) and there are only 2 flights per week!
Second: Make sure that you got an official permit (copies) to go to Kachin State
and copies of your passport including your visa ...(Well, this is more important when you visit Myitkyina and surrounding area)
Third: If you travel during European wintertime, make sure you bring winter clothes! Mornings, evenings and nights are pretty chilly (to avoid the word 'freeeezing'!)
Fourth: If you are expecting night clubs, discos, big hotels, fat chance either! But see ...
Malikha Lodge ...
Bear with me, but this place carries me away!

A word about the restaurant: the cook is a genious who can prepare the whole bandwith of food from European pasta to original Lisu food.

About accomodation ...

Let's peek inside the spacious bungalow No. 5 (that's mine) ...
Besides a king size bed, a separate shower, the most important fireplace ...
... you get a king size bathtub (450 l) as well (and of course hot water!)
If you never felt like a king or queen, in this place you will!
And here are some awful views ...
... for which you do not even have to walk!
Something is going on at the raft ...
... my fellow Malikha Lodgers from Yangon are about to chill out! (even my footsoles got goosebumps!)
But, if you are tough (it's damp and chilly in the evening) ...
... your reward will be a peaceful, photogenic evening
