Below an aerial view of Monywa with indicators to the places I refer to here ...
Before we get back to worldly things let's visit Monywa's famous monastery ...
Mandalay's Kuthodaw pagoda is said to contain the world's biggest book ...but let's have a look at this one ... Maha Ledi Monastery
The photos below were taken along the southern side of the entrance walkway (West to East)
Well, I guess the monks here love the pink color ...
... but here is the 'book' ...
... up to now this 'book' consists of 806 marble slabs ...
... with comments about Buddhist philosophy carved in the marble slabs on both sides ...
After 'turning' the pages we are getting closer to the Inner Sanctum...
... where scenes of life of the first Ledi Sayadaw are are shown (below) ...
... and finally the first Ledi Sayadaw (below) ... being bathed in a spooky green light which the caretaker turned off when he realised that I wanted to take a close-up photo
Back to the entrance of Maha Ledi again ... there is a pavillion on the right side where you can see the first Ledi Sayadaw meditating in Monywa area decades ago ...
... and again the caretaker was so friendly to open the slide doors so I could sit opposite to the meditating Sayadaw to take photos
Last not least ... below is the photo of the Sayadaw in charge today ...
... and a photo of the Sayadwas that might follow ...
